It's a bit early, but so far I definitely think the age of the author is very apparent. I think there's some decent ideas here, but the execution needs a lot of work.
It's a shame, really. I think they were so happy to market the series based on Paolini's youth, but if he'd had a few more years to work on it, with a stronger hand for an editor, this actually could be a decent to good novel.
