It is logical, but I think it's something that really ought to be addressed outright. When you have apocalyptic death spores in the sky, vague "what ifs" aren't really going to cut it.
(Admittedly, I'd probably still side with Ted, but it'd be a little easier to sympathize with everyone else.)
