I can't remember if I brought this up before, but seeing the title of the last chapter you put up made something click. I skimmed this book before yeeeaaaaars ago in a library in the next town over. This chapter confirmed it. The only thing that kept me from reading it in full was realizing it was part of a series and I'd missed the other parts.
